Resource Center
The FSMTB wants to ensure that consumers of massage and bodywork services have adequate knowledge about what they can expect from a massage and bodywork practitioner. Most importantly, FSMTB wants to ensure that the public is aware of the requirements for licensure for each state and that resources are available to check the license status of practitioners. Although most states regulate massage therapy, standards and requirements to become a massage therapist vary by state. If you are interested in becoming a massage therapist, please get in touch with your state regulatory board to determine the qualifications required to practice.

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics job outlook projects employment of massage therapists to grow 21 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand will likely increase as more healthcare providers understand the benefits of massage, and these services become part of treatment plans.
